German BLE week 46

'Spanish deliveries intensified noticeably, but Belgian and Dutch tomato deliveries still dominated the market'

According to the German BLE, Belgian and Dutch tomato deliveries continued to dominate the market but lost market share overall. Spanish deliveries intensified noticeably, and Moroccan and Turkish supplies also increased. Supplies from Italy and Croatia were more of a supplementary nature. Domestic offers rounded off the picture. The quality of European products was no longer entirely convincing; in Munich, Dutch and Belgian loads in particular showed weak coloring. In general, business was relatively quiet. Demand was met without any major difficulties. In terms of prices, not much changed. In some places, a fairly wide price range established itself as a result of the abundant supply. In Frankfurt, demand was relatively weak, so prices fell slightly, especially towards the weekend.

Apples
Jonagold, Elstar, Boskoop, and Wellant from Germany formed the basis of the supply. Italy mainly supplied Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. Jazz apples came mainly from France. Demand was generally in line with supply.

Pears
Italian Abate Fetel and Santa Maria predominated, together with Turkish Santa Maria and Deveci. Xenia pears were mainly available from the Netherlands. German Xenia, Alexander Lucas, and Conference pears were also available in smaller quantities. Demand was mainly favorable.

Table grapes
Italian loads dominated, but their presence was increasingly limited. In Frankfurt, their entry requirements increased, which immediately led to a slowdown in customer demand. There, Turkish Sultana grapes in winter packaging were not entirely convincing in terms of their organoleptic properties.

Small citrus fruits
Spanish deliveries predominated among clementines: Oronules, Clemenules, and Loretina were mainly available to customers. Italian products supplemented the range and cost between EUR 2.00 and EUR 2.70 per kg in Frankfurt. Demand improved slightly as a result of the autumnal weather.

Lemons
Spanish Primofiori and Verdelli dominated. The presence of Turkish produce expanded slightly. Loads from South Africa and Egypt supplemented the range. As a result of the extensive availability of Spanish products, prices tended to fall in the majority of cases.

Bananas
Marketing proceeded smoothly across the board. Demand intensified slightly in Munich, leading to slight price increases across the entire range. In Frankfurt, on the other hand, the offers that were too ripe became cheaper.

Cauliflower
Domestic loads dominated, followed by Belgian and Dutch ones in terms of importance. Deliveries from France gained in relevance, with small quantities from Italy supplementing the supply. The autumn weather improved storage conditions in some areas.

Lettuce
Spanish loads clearly dominated the iceberg lettuce market. Their presence had expanded noticeably. As demand could not keep pace with this, prices often fell. French products also arrived among the mixed lettuce.

Cucumbers
Spanish arrivals predominated. Dutch and Belgian loads accounted for almost equal shares of the trade. Greek shipments appeared exclusively in Munich. In Frankfurt, Spanish offers were the focus of interest as their quality had improved noticeably.

Sweet peppers
The presence of Spanish, Turkish, and Moroccan shipments expanded. Spanish loads regularly attracted higher prices: disease, a smaller harvest, and increased sorting costs had an impact on purchase prices, which rose sharply in some cases.
