Saudi Arabia to open market for Uzbek produce

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, announced that a decision regarding the import of Uzbek agricultural produce will be completed within 60 days, Uzbekistan 24 reported.

During his meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Al-Falih stated that once the technical procedures are finalised, Uzbek fruits and other farm products will be cleared for export to the Saudi market.

Saudi Arabia currently imports most of its agricultural and horticultural products, positioning it as a potential destination for Uzbekistan's expanding fruit and vegetable exports. "We need to accelerate cooperation, develop land, livestock, and orchards, and jointly implement large projects to speed up export and import between our countries," said Mirziyoyev.

In response, Al-Falih confirmed that the necessary procedures would be completed soon. "Sixty days is a long time for you; we will try to speed up the process. In addition, we intend to open the way for exporting Uzbek products to neighbouring countries," he said.

The two governments are expected to cooperate in expanding agricultural trade, with Uzbekistan aiming to diversify its export destinations for fruits and vegetables, and Saudi Arabia seeking to strengthen food supply channels through new import partners.
