More than 60 representatives of the agricultural sector participated in the Agroencuentro Chimaltenango, a conference held in Pueblo Real, Tecpán, to strengthen the production chain, generate business opportunities, and facilitate access to export markets for small and medium-sized producers.
The event was organized by Agexport's Agricultural Sector, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA), and was supported by the European Union's AL-INVEST Verde program. It brought together 25 agro-exporters and 35 producer associations from various parts of the country, who presented a diverse range of products that included fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, and differentiated goods.

According to data from Agexport's Market Intelligence Unit, the agricultural sector has the potential to reach $5.226 billion in exports in the coming years. The country is working to open the U.S. market for its avocados. This is an important opportunity for this product, as in 2024, U.S. market avocado imports amounted to $3.877 billion. The opening of this market will depend on progress in the admissibility protocol.
