This week's produce report highlights shifting volumes and price trends across key commodities in North American markets, with continued seasonal transitions and variable demand. Below is a summary by crop based on official USDA movement updates.
Asparagus
Movement from Mexico through Arizona, California, and Texas is steady. Trading is moderate, with prices for large slightly higher and standard higher. Large 11-lb cartons are mostly $20.75, standard cartons are $18.75. Peru imports via Southern California are decreasing. Trading is fairly slow. Jumbo prices are $36.00, extra-large mostly $26.00–28.00, large at $20.00, and standard mostly $18.00–19.00.
Avocado
Movement from Mexico via Texas is expected to decrease. Trading is moderate for organic and fairly slow for conventional. Conventional 48s are mostly $45.25–48.25, and organic 48s are $70.25–72.25. Peruvian imports through northeastern ports remain stable with lower prices: 48s are $25.00–28.00. California's South District reports slightly decreasing movement. Conventional 48s are mostly $58.25–60.25, and organic 48s are mostly $80.25–82.25.
Blueberry
Supply from Oregon and Washington is increasing. Trading is active at lower prices. Flats of 12 1-pint cups are mostly $20.00–22.00. Organics range from $17.00–19.00 for 6-oz cups and $27.00–30.00 for pints. Peruvian imports are beginning, but current volumes are too low to establish a market. British Columbia's harvest began June 29 and will increase; the first FOB report is expected July 18.
Cucumber
Mexican supply through Texas is decreasing. Trading is fairly active, and prices are slightly higher. Mediums are mostly $20.95–22.95. Movement through Otay Mesa is increasing with lower prices; mediums and larges are mostly $16.00–17.00. South Georgia is finishing the season, with supplies too limited to establish a market.
Bell Pepper
South Georgia's season is ending with an insufficient supply, to quote a market. California's San Joaquin Valley harvest began July 6 with generally good quality. The first FOB report is expected the week of July 13.
Tomato
California's Central District shows increasing movement. Prices are much higher with 25-lb loose mature greens at $8.35. Mexican crossings through Texas also show increasing supply, with 2-layer vine ripe 4x4-4x5s mostly $12.95–13.95. Otay Mesa trading is active with 4x4-4x5s at $13.00–15.00. Eastern Tennessee and Alabama are increasing movement, reporting 25-lb loose 5x6, 6x6, and 6x7 sizes at $13.35. Florida and South Carolina are finished for the season.
