Milder Brazilian climate aids citrus, cold hits lemons

The current citrus season in São Paulo has experienced milder climate conditions, differing from previous years. Improved rainfall metrics have influenced plant development positively. Data from Inmet reports 34.5 mm of rainfall in Araraquara this June, compared to minimal levels in June 2024.

In west São Paulo's Pindorama, lemon production areas saw 35.3 mm in June 2025. Previously, April through June 2024 lacked rainfall. However, 2025 accumulated rainfall showed 93.8 mm in Pindorama and 102.9 mm in Araraquara over April and May.

Conversely, colder temperatures introduced challenges, especially for lemons, as frost could affect fruit skin and color, complicating sales during the off-season.
