In Ho Chi Minh City, the demand for Vietnamese mangosteen remains robust despite being priced 50% higher than Thai imports. Prices for top-quality local produce begin at approximately $4.89.
While Thai imports account for larger volumes, they are priced at $3.67–$4.08. Lan Anh, a vendor in Binh Thanh District, reported that numerous pre-orders for local variants have been placed, despite the main harvest season being postponed to next month. The delay, coupled with reduced yields, has affected anticipated supply, resulting in increased prices.
Farmers from key producing regions like Binh Duong and Dong Nai have indicated that many orchards are not yet ready for harvest, requiring an additional two weeks before picking can commence. Some anticipate a reduction in yields by 40–70% compared to the previous year, primarily due to adverse weather conditions.
