As of June 2024, New Zealand's horticulture sector continued its steady expansion, with notable increases in fruit cultivation, according to Stats NZ. Kiwifruit plantings rose by 32 per cent over the past decade, reaching 14,500 hectares, with gold varieties accounting for 57 per cent. China remained the top market, receiving 27 per cent of New Zealand's kiwifruit export value.

Wine grape plantings also grew by 11 per cent to 37,600 hectares, with the Marlborough region producing nearly 70 per cent of the total. The United States continued to be the leading export destination for New Zealand wine.
