Over the past week, the average price index for socially significant food products has decreased by 0.1%, effectively nullifying the annual growth rate. These figures were presented during a meeting on stabilizing prices for socially important food products (SIFP) chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, as reported by Kazinform, citing Primeminister.kz.
Despite market pressures, the government has managed to keep the price increase for socially significant food products at zero.
First Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration, Aizhan Bizhanova, announced that a seasonal decline in vegetable prices has begun. Over the past week, the price of carrots dropped by 1.1%, and the price of potatoes fell by 0.6%.
Vice Minister of Agriculture, Ermek Kenzhekhanuly, reported that all regions have contracted sufficient quantities of the autumn vegetable harvest to cover the needs for the inter-seasonal period. The total volume of vegetable contracts across all regions ranges from 108% to 186% of the required amount for the autumn-winter season.
To secure the vegetable stock for the deep winter and early spring period, regional fairs will now commence to facilitate the procurement of the harvest for stabilization funds.
