Agribusiness in Rio Grande do Norte is witnessing an upward trajectory, underscored by the latest data from Sebrae-RN's AgroNegócio Bulletin. This report, highlighting the state's agricultural landscape, showcases a notable increase in fruit production, particularly bananas and melons. According to the IBGE, banana output surged by 135% and melon production by 65% between 2021 and 2022.
The sector's expansion is largely fuelled by exports. In the initial half of 2024 alone, fruit exports from Rio Grande do Norte surpassed US$ 73 million, positioning the state as Brazil's fourth-largest fruit producer. This momentum is anticipated to propel the state towards a record-breaking annual export figure.
With 52,292 rural producers, of which 38,437 are farmers, the state's agricultural domain is diverse. The distribution of these producers across cities like Santa Cruz, Touros, Apodi, Santo Antônio, and Caraúbas, further illustrates the region's agricultural vigor.
