In the Aksy district of the Jalal-Abad region in Kyrgyzstan, the area sown with melon crops amounts to 2,242 hectares, of which 1,991 hectares are occupied by watermelon and 251 hectares by melon. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
To date, the harvested area covers 700 hectares, where the yield has reached 250 centrers per hectare. The total gross harvest amounted to 17,500 tons, of which watermelon accounts for 15,929 tons and melon for 1,571 tons.
The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry provides comprehensive assistance to farmers in the Aksy district who intend to sell watermelon and melon in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The ministry organizes the provision of freight transport vehicles and facilitates the smooth crossing of borders and the sale of products in the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan.
