"It is estimated that bayberry sales will increase this year compared to last year"

The Chinese bayberry production season starts in early March. Currently, bayberries from Yunnan and Fujian are available on the market, and Zhejiang bayberries will be available in June.

Bayberry is the core product of Shenzhen Yizhiyi Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. Ms. Zhou from the company discussed the different production regions: "This year's drought in Yunnan has made the bayberries smaller but sweeter. Fujian's bayberry season started in early May, but the hot and rainy weather there has made harvesting and preservation difficult, increasing losses and costs."

"Yunnan bayberries are diverse and mostly eaten fresh; Fujian primarily produces the "Yingsi" variety, which is used in the tea industry. Zhejiang bayberries, known for their flavor, will be available in June. Last year's drought in Zhejiang severely reduced production and ended the season early. This year's weather is better, and if it continues, production should improve."

Yizhiyi uses supermarkets as its main sales channel. According to Zhou, the market price of bayberries is about the same as last year, but prices are dropping faster. "Current sales are slightly lower than this time last year, but we can't make a final judgment until the season ends in July. If the weather in Zhejiang stays favorable, we expect overall sales to be higher than last year."

Discussing market changes, Zhou said: "The bayberry market is stable, but some supermarkets are looking to add unique products to boost sales. For example, they are introducing organic bayberries and increasing the supply of the white "Shuijing" variety. These have small yields but could attract market interest and create new opportunities."

In addition to variety, bayberry packaging has also changed. "Bayberries are prone to mold and don't store well. To address this, we've launched new fresh-keeping packages in 250g and 450g sizes, which have received positive feedback."

Yizhiyi's core products are bayberries and mulberries, and they have their own production base. Other main products include strawberries, citrus, and melons. Their sales channels include supermarkets, tea shops, and online sales.
