Florent Philippot, CEO ZGroup USA:

"Our containers serve as bridge for businesses seeking customisable and efficient cold storage options”

ZGroup, a large provider in the cold chain and logistics industry in Peru and the US, recently achieved a milestone by installing a cutting-edge fresh produce distribution center for Cencosud, one of the largest retail companies in the Americas. "Comprising 80 modular containers, including cold rooms, loading docks, and power pack, this project represents the largest modular refrigerated installation in the region," says Florent Philippot, CEO of ZGroup USA.

Despite challenges posed by facility constraints, ZGroup's modular approach enabled seamless installation and operational efficiency, empowering Cencosud to centralize its fresh produce storage and elevate product quality for consumers across Peru, notes Philippot.

"We are proud to have contributed to Cencosud's success and to have achieved this significant milestone in our company's history. This project exemplifies our commitment to innovation, adaptability, and customer satisfaction, driving growth and consolidating our reputation as leaders in the cold chain industry," added Philippot.

ZGroup, traces its roots back to a legacy of expertise honed during past labour experiences with industry giants like Maersk and NYK Line. "From humble beginnings, reminiscent of tech pioneers, ZGroup embarked on a journey to revolutionize cold storage and logistics for companies in Peru and the United States. Driven by a passion for innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence, ZGroup challenged traditional norms by harnessing the untapped potential of logistics in refrigerated containers for a multitude of applications, from cold storage to pre-cooling, blast freezing, or fruit ripening. This bold approach catapulted ZGroup to the forefront of the national cold chain sector in Peru, earning widespread acclaim and recognition as an industry pioneer. Blueberries are currently our top commodity for pre-cooling, but we have been working with table grapes, strawberries, mangoes, snow peas and citrus. For ripening, our uses case is mainly with avocados and mangoes, but it will work with any climacteric fruits," explains Philippot.

Expanding its horizons beyond the borders of Peru, ZGroup ventured into the US market, driven by a fervent desire to push boundaries and defy conventional norms. A strategic partnership with LA Produce Distributors in Los Angeles marked the beginning of a new chapter in ZGroup's journey, propelling the company onto the global stage with its innovative modular solutions. "Our containers serve as a bridge for businesses seeking customizable, cost-effective, and efficient cold storage options. The expansion of our collaboration underscores the value our solution brings to their growing operations," said Philippot.

ZGroup's commitment to innovation knows no bounds, "as evidenced by its groundbreaking initiatives with modular food processing infrastructure. Leveraging its extensive experience gained from the installation of various modular processing plants, ZGroup has emerged as a trusted partner for agro-exporters, offering unparalleled solutions tailored to the unique needs of growers worldwide," notes Philippot.

He concludes by saying ZGroup continues to challenge the boundaries of innovation and redefine the future of cold chain logistics. "Our company remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency, enhance sustainability, and unlock new possibilities for businesses worldwide."
