"Chlorine dioxide preservative can effectively increase the shelf life of lychees"

Agricultural products are essential for human health. Even after they are harvested, these products are still 'alive'. They keep undergoing metabolic processes, which eventually lead to spoilage. As society develops, people's quality of life improves, and they seek higher-quality in agricultural products. Mr. Wang Lin from Shandong Aoweite Biotechnology Co., Ltd. shared insights about fruit and vegetable preservation based on scientific research. He also introduced the preservation products developed by his company.

Wang published an article titled "Interaction of Gaseous Chlorine Dioxide and Mild Heat on the Inactivation of Salmonella on Almonds" in the Journal of Food Protection (JFP). This study focused on how gaseous chlorine dioxide can kill Salmonella bacteria in almonds. Salmonella is a common food-borne pathogen that can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and diarrhea. The study showed that gaseous chlorine dioxide effectively kills Salmonella and preserves almonds. It also works well for tomatoes, cherries, lychees, and other fruits.

China is the world's largest producer of lychees. However, lychees are very perishable and prone to fungal infections post-harvest. The peel loses water and turns brown within 5 to 8 hours at room temperature, reducing its commercial value and shelf life. To address this, Shandong Aoweite Biotechnology Co., Ltd. developed a special chlorine dioxide preservative for lychees. Large-scale experiments in the Chinese lychee market showed that this product benefits farmers greatly, reducing resource waste by 95%. Unlike traditional fungicides, this preservative leaves no pesticide residue does not damage the fruit's fibrous tissue, taste, or nutrition, and does not need to be washed off with water. "Currently, chlorine dioxide lychee preservatives have a 75% market share in China and are increasingly recognized by farmers," said Wang.

Shandong Aoweite Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is dedicated to providing freshness solutions to major fruit and vegetable suppliers worldwide. Their products cover the entire supply chain, from farmers' fields to cold storage in warehouses, logistics vehicles, and packaging plants. "We can customize products according to customers' needs," said Wang. The company's preservatives have received registration certificates in many countries and have partnered with dealers in various regions. They are now seeking global partners.
