Pune APMC cracks down on counterfeit Alphonso mangoes

In response to the proliferation of counterfeit Alphonso mangoes in Pune's Market Yard, the Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) has initiated stringent measures. The APMC has formed dedicated squads to inspect all mango consignments arriving in Pune, aiming to curb the sale of South Indian mangoes falsely marketed as 'Alphonso mangoes from the Konkan belt (Devgad/Ratnagiri).'

Over recent years, officials have confiscated such mangoes from at least three traders, imposing fines and auctioning the seized goods. With the onset of the mango season, the APMC has issued a stern warning to traders against the sale of counterfeit Alphonso or any other mango varieties, indicating that failure to comply will result in legal action.
