De Groot fresh group has reached agreement on the acquisition by EDEKA
Einkaufskontor GmbH of the Hedel-based business units De Groot international
and de Groot fresh ripening.

The transaction has been submitted to the Netherlands Competition Authority for approval and will be completed once approval is obtained. Financial details of the transaction will not be disclosed. The staff have meanwhile been informed that they will all be joining EDEKA Einkaufskontor GmbH.
These business units were part of the family-owned De Groot fresh group, founded
in 1930, which also includes: de Groot fresh transport, de Groot fruit & vegetables,
de Groot fresh produce UK and de Groot real estate. The internationally operating
family business serves the retail, wholesale, foodservice and cash & carry markets.
