Government takes steps to reduce the prices of fruits and vegetables in Pakistan

In an effort to alleviate the financial burden on consumers in Pakistan, the government has initiated several measures aimed at reducing the market prices of fruits and vegetables. According to Bilal Yasin, the Minister for Food, these actions include the establishment of fair-price shops and the imposition of a ban on the export of onions and tomatoes. These steps are designed to enhance the availability of these essential commodities and prevent price hikes.

Yasin highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring food security and stabilizing prices through market regulation. "We are dedicated to making sure that the prices of fruits and vegetables are kept at a reasonable level, and our strategies are aimed at benefiting the consumers directly," he stated. The minister also mentioned that the government is closely monitoring the market to prevent hoarding and artificial price inflation. Furthermore, efforts are being made to improve the supply chain and reduce post-harvest losses, which significantly contribute to the high cost of produce.
