Dagestan's Rosselkhoznadzor had monitored the import of fresh fruits and vegetables at the Russian Federation's state border since the beginning of this month. Through the international automobile checkpoints "Yarag-Kazmalyar" and "Tagirkent-Kazmalyar" situated at the state border of the republic, the agency has controlled the import of over 45,000 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables across 2546 consignments from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey.
Within 10 consignments of quarantined produce weighing a total of 146.4 tons, two types of quarantine pests were discovered. Conclusions drawn by the Dagestan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "VNIIKR" confirmed the presence of Western flower thrips and South American tomato moth. The quarantined produce underwent phytosanitary disinfection and, upon re-evaluation by "VNIIKR," was released for circulation.
Shipments complying with the Unified Quarantine Phytosanitary Requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union were permitted by the Rosselkhoznadzor for further distribution to their recipients.
