Produce tie and tag manufacturer Bedford Industries recently launched PolyScape™ by Bedford, an upcycled plastic lumber line that transforms post-consumer produce identification products into durable and versatile outdoor building materials.
Farm uses for PolyScape include potato cribbing, fences, posts, raised beds and trellises. Custom sizes and molds are also available for additional uses.
PolyScape mimics the appearance of wood but is durable and weather-resistant. Available in numerous board lengths and profiles, it is a sustainable substitute for wood or steel that won't rot or rust. Farm uses include potato cribbing, fences, posts, raised beds and trellises. The Minnesota manufacturer created PolyScape as a creative solution to address plastic waste. The plastic used to manufacture PolyScape is captured in a combination of:
1) Bedford's closed-loop manufacturing process
2) Extracted from TagBack® returns
TagBack drop box locations more than quadrupled during the last year.
Eligible TagBack returns include Bedford's produce identification products: produce ties, Bib Ties®, ElastiTag®, PushTag® and CloseIt® bag closures.
TagBack drop box locations more than quadrupled during the last year. There are currently 139 drop box sites across the U.S., which include grocery stores and co-ops, natural food stores and pet shops. More than 207,000 pounds of product has been upcycled since the program began in late 2019.
