A new edition of the Potato Demo Day is being set up. On August 21st, the potato sector is once again expected in Westmaas, the Netherlands. The fair will be smaller but will "grow enormously regarding knowledge transfer," says Marieke Ampt-de Jong on behalf of the organizers.
"That day is known as one with many exhibitors and harvesting demonstrations. However, the demand this places on the event's grounds is taking on too large a scale. Those grounds are primarily intended for testing. To continue conducting reliable research in the future, it's no longer responsible for using so much of the Westmaas area for the Potato Demo Day. There's too much risk of damage to the ground in the event of a wetter edition".
"There's a growing need for know-how and depth in the potato market, which we want to cater to with the Potato Demo Day's new setup. We must start thinking about that," Marieke explains. "We must develop new components but also say goodbye to some familiar elements, namely the mechanization park, harvesting demonstrations, and unloading lines. The area will be smaller, and the meeting area will remain, but we will significantly expand the content program."
"The Potato Demo Day will, more than ever, focus on knowledge transfer. There will be over 30 prominent speakers from the potato sector to inspire, inform, and engage with the potato-growing Netherlands. Exhibitors can make an important contribution by highlighting their potato cultivation and processing-related products and services. The shorter walking distances mean the trade show will be more centralized, with more room for the content program. The meeting area, as Potato Demo Day is intended, will come into its own even more. Meeting people with a snack and a drink in hand remains the day's focal point," Marieke concludes.
