In the Turkestan region, the cabbage harvest is currently underway, with agrarians reporting a good yield from late varieties. On average, farmers are harvesting around 40 tons of cabbage per hectare. Vegetable growers not only supply their produce to the domestic market but also export it. This year, over 9,000 hectares of cabbage were sown in the region. The harvest of early cabbage amounted to 187,000 tons, while late cabbage yielded 137,000 tons.
Farmers attribute their success to government subsidies, which help maintain competitive prices. Yermakhan Adiev, the head of a peasant farm, expressed satisfaction with this year's harvest, noting that the weight of the cabbage reached 6–7 kilograms, thanks to the frost-resistant variety planted. There is a demand for the produce in the market.
Aktore Tuymebek, the head of the regional Department of Agriculture, commented on the cabbage prices, stating that they fluctuate between 0.12 and 0.2 euros. More than 50,000 tons have been sold in the region, with excess vegetables being distributed to other areas and exported. Buyers from Russia, Uzbekistan, and the Baltic countries are among the export destinations.
