Portuguese police discovers four tons of cocaine in banana shipment

The Polícia Judiciária have announced the seizure of more than four tons of cocaine, hidden in boxes of bananas in a Lisbon warehouse. The action, named Operation Âncora, has not yet resulted in any arrests on Portuguese soil.

The cocaine originated in Ecuador, arriving in Portugal by sea. It was due to have been transported, within a shipment of bananas, to other European destinations. The PJ has been working with other police forces on this investigation for some months.
