In addition to the core production area of Guangxi, Guizhou is also one of the key production areas for passion fruit in China. "The passion fruit production area is located in southeastern Guizhou. The local temperature difference between morning and evening is large, the soil is high in trace elements, and it is irrigated with mountain spring water, which helps to grow high-quality fruits. The local area started developing passion fruit three years ago and believes that its market potential can bring better economic benefits to growers." This is according to Chen Jiang, from the Guizhou Yazhi Ecological Agriculture and Technology Development Co., Ltd., who are mainly engaged in the nursery, planting, harvesting and sales of passion fruit.

It is understood that this year's high temperature and rainy weather
have affected the yield and size of passion fruit. "The first batch encountered high temperatures when they were fruit-bearing, and the second batch of fruits encountered heavy rain during the ripening period, which had a great impact on the yield. The first batch is usually larger in size, but the lower production of this batch has reduced the proportion of large fruits this season."
The passion fruit season in Guizhou is from the end of July to November, which is about 20 days later than the passion fruit from Guangxi. "When Guizhou passion fruit came on the market, it was in the middle of the Guangxi passion fruit season, so the price was affected. When farmers see that the market price is not high when there are a lot of fruits, they are worried about subsequent sales problems and the fruits are almost ripe, so they tend to pick and sell them as soon as possible, making it more difficult to increase prices. When prices rise before the Mid-Autumn Festival, many farmers have no more fruit to sell."
"Whether it is in terms of market development or planting, the passion fruit industry still needs to be vigorously promoted." Mr. Chen said that although passion fruit has been cultivated for many years, it has not been truly popularized and market awareness has yet to be developed. "Many consumers' understanding of passion fruit is still limited to the traditional purple variety with a sour taste. They think it tastes sour and is expensive. In recent years, a new variety of golden passion fruit has been launched on the market, and we are also working hard to develop it. This variety has a purely sweet taste and is loved by consumers, but its market promotion is insufficient, especially in the northern region. The passion fruit market has not yet fully opened."

"On the other hand, farmers' planting management and brand awareness also need to be improved. Currently, golden passion fruit is grown in many areas, but the quality and price vary, and the specifications and standards are not in order. It is our development plan to encourage farmers to grow healthy fruits. We will promote planting techniques to local farmers and assist in sales. For example, our passion fruit base is grown using microbial fertilizers without using pesticides or herbicides. We require farmers to do the same. In addition, the air and water in Guizhou's mountainous areas are good for fruits and vegetables, so we will organize farmers to plant them in the mountains. The market potential of passion fruit is huge. We believe that as long as the fruit is of good quality, even if the price is slightly higher, we can still obtain good market returns."
