Thorn pear harvest is getting started in Guizhou province

As the region enters its two-month harvest season, growers in the Shuicheng district of Liupanshui, Guizhou province, are are harvesting thorn pears.

To produce high quality fruit, Shuicheng has applied bio-control and organic farming technologies. It has also created a mechanism that connects processing enterprises and cooperatives to encourage 162,000 thorn pear farmers in developing the industry, local authorities said.

Wang Tianyong, a resident of Cuobo village in Shuicheng, has reaped his best harvest of thorn pears this year — approximately 10,000 kilograms. He expressed his gratitude for the support given to fruit farmers by companies and made up his mind to plant more thorn pears in the coming year.
