"We are currently delivering 50 scales a day"

Scales for table grapes: sales are peaking

These are the weeks when the orders of the Karmen scales usually peak, an innovative equipment developed for field weighing and assembled by Rescina.

"Demand has skyrocketed over the past couple of weeks and requests remain lively at least until mid-September, although supplies usually continue until early October. We are currently delivering around 50 scales a day to companies growing table grapes, especially in Puglia. Our point of strength is the fact that we have a large amount of pieces already available in our warehouse, so we can deliver them immediately," commented designer Giuseppe Rescina.

Karmen scales are lightweight, precise, reliable and handy, and they have become essential to weigh crates (up to 20 kg) directly in vineyards, thus avoiding too much manipulation and keeping packaging costs down. "We have achieved the ideal product thanks to recent structural and functional modifications, such as the possibility of using both rechargeable and disposable batteries. Karen is suitable not only in the fields, where the maximum precision is required, but also in the warehouse where higher accuracy is required during packaging due to the smaller formats."

We have asked Giuseppe Rescina if the drop in production registered this year has affected his business. "The opposite happened, actually: we have sold slightly more scales than in 2022. That 20-30% of bunches that were missing on the trees generated more interest for traditional seeded grapes. The producers of these cultivars have gone back to investing in professional equipment capable of improving the working conditions of operators."
