Kyrgyzstan shrinks banana imports by 36% in two months

According to the National Statistical Committee, the volume of banana shipments into Kyrgyzstan declined by 36% in January-February 2023. The country imported 3,500 tons of bananas for these two months of 2023 versus 5,500 tons imported in January-February 2022.

In monetary terms, import declined by 23.2% to $2.34 million. Kyrgyzstan imported bananas mainly from Ecuador - 2,800 tons for $1.55 million. 623.4 tons of bananas were imported from Russia for $692,500 and 94 tons of bananas were imported from Kazakhstan for $97,000.
