The projects that Coop Sole will bring to Fruit Logistica

This year's goal is to produce ten thousand tons of strawberries

Harvesting 10,000 tons of strawberries is one of the main goals of Coop Sole from Italy's Campania region this year. The cooperative, which harvested 9,100 tonnes of strawberries last season, aims to grow further, as well as expanding organic cultivation and introducing more quantities of other soft fruits to the market. The larger volumes of strawberries are not only a source of pride for Coop Sole, but also represent, albeit in a small way, the growth of the Italian strawberry sector.

"The strawberry season is getting off to a slow start because of rain and cold weather. The harvest is delayed, and available quantities are still limited. We expect the harvest peak from March to May. During that period, there will be supply continuity," said Pietro Paolo Ciardiello, director of Coop Sole.

"The raspberry season is also coming again, but we will have to wait until spring for the first picking."

There is also an ambitious project for melon this year, with a wider growing calendar and new varieties that Coop Sole will offer on the Italian and international markets.

The company that developed SìBon, the premium range of strawberries and other soft fruits with recyclable packaging, continues to pay close attention to the theme of sustainability, in addition to guaranteeing a healthy, ethical and exceptionally sweet product. Therefore, Coop Sole is always looking for suitable varieties to achieve these goals.

The cooperative is also always refining its cultivation techniques to ensure quality production of vegetables, such as organic celery. Kohlrabi is offered from organic cultivation and from cultivation with integrated crop protection strategies. In short, there are many proposals that Coop Sole will bring to Fruit Logistica, where it will be present at stand A-40, in hall 2.2 in Piazza Italia as part of the Mediterraneo Group, of which Pietro Paolo Ciardiello is the managing director.
