2 km of gutters installed in Japanese greenhouse-restaurant

A Japanese greenhouse has just installed 2,160 linear meters of gutters for hydroponic cultivation thanks to the Spanish company located in Murcia, Hydroponic Systems. With these systems, it will be able to grow strawberries and increase its production in a facility that is also used for catering.

The lifting system, the hydroponic unit chosen by this Japanese greenhouse restaurant, hangs from the ceiling and consists of a channel, a metal lattice, and a Spacer that keeps the substrate bags with the roots of the plants completely isolated from the drains so that they avoid diseases to grow healthy and strong. In addition, the lifting system moves the crop rows up and down to facilitate sunlight, labor, and harvesting, as required by the grower.

This lifting system is a sophisticated piece of engineering by Hydroponic Systems: in addition to achieving optimal results in plant growth, it is very easy to operate and lasts over time, so the grower only has to focus on the development of his crops. It also increases the number of plants in the greenhouse by 1.6 times compared to other hydroponic, substrate, or traditional methods.

A special concept
This greenhouse restaurant, Ichigos Yokohama, allows visitors to taste strawberries at their optimum ripeness, picking and eating them on-site. It also grows ten types of strawberries throughout the year, although not all are always available at the same time.

Hydroponics Systems has developed this project of design and export of hydroponic growing equipment together with Tomita Technologies Ltd. In addition, it has a wide portfolio of customers in Asia, several of them located in Japan, where the commitment to hydroponics to increase production near cities, thus reducing the carbon footprint, is already a reality.
