According to a report by China News Service, Gaozhou is the birthplace of Chuliang longan, and is known as the "Hometown of Longan in China". Among them, the best quality Chuliang longan has a planting area of over 17,333 hectares.

According to the Gaozhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Gaozhou has a longan planting history of more than 2,200 years. Gaozhou has become a top-class distribution center for the processing and sales of fresh and dried longan fruits, with an annual processing capacity of over 100,000 tons of fresh longan fruits. This year, due to the typhoon and other climatic factors, the production of Gaozhou longan has decreased, the harvest period has been delayed by about a week, and the initial listing price has increased by 30% to 40% compared with the same period last year. The current ones on the market are some early-ripening fruits, and the batches will need to wait until late July.

The harvest of longan in Jigongling Fruit Farm in Fenjie Town, Gaozhou began on July 8. According to the fruit farm, now workers' hours are arranged according to the maturity of the fruit, as it is not possible to pick it every day. At present, the purchase price of Shixia longan on its fruit farm is 5RMB/kg, and the price of Chuliang longan is 6RMB/kg. The fruits will be steadily available in about a week.

According to the introduction, the price of Shixia longan was 20RMB/kg at the beginning of the market, and the price of Chuliang longan was about 24RMB/kg. Due to the reduction in production, it is expected that the price of longan will be relatively stable this year, and the price will not drop significantly in the later period due to a large number of listings. At present, all the fresh longan fruits are sent every day to the Guangxi Fruit Wholesale Market. When longan is in the market in larger quantities, the fresh fruit will be sold for processing.
