New Zealand is a world-renowned high-quality fruit-producing region, with a unique natural environment, excellent new product research and development capabilities, and off-season supply in the northern and southern hemispheres. Its fruit industry is a world leader.
China is New Zealand's largest trading partner. The five-year compound annual growth rate of New Zealand's fruit exports to China has reached 12.6%, showing great potential for industry development.
In 2021, New Zealand's total fruit exports reached 1.04 million tons, of which exports to China account for 14.9%, ranking first.
Among the fruit categories China imports from New Zealand, kiwifruit and apples have become the two key fruit categories. About 94% of China's imported kiwifruit and about 70% of imported apples come from New Zealand. New Zealand fruits are popular with consumers in China and around the world for their natural nutrition, excellent taste and appearance.
