New Zealand's fresh fruit season in China officially kicks off

New Zealand has a unique natural environment and excellent research and development capabilities for new products and has always been rich in various high-quality fruits. Coinciding with the official upgrade of the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and the new season of New Zealand fruit being fully launched in 2022, New Zealand Trade Development Agency will join hands with China’s leading fruit and vegetable industry leader, Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Group, and major New Zealand fruit exporters to join forces to further help New Zealand fruit to further develop into the Chinese market.

On June 18, a 2022 New Zealand fresh fruit launch conference jointly organized by New Zealand Trade Development Agency and Joy Wing Mau was grandly held in Guangzhou Jiangnan Wholesale Market. With the themes of "New" and "Healthy New Life", the conference brought together 8 well-known fruit exporters from New Zealand: Bostock, Mr Apple, Zespri, Rockit, Freshmax, Golden Bay Fruit, T&G Global, Freshco, to present a feast of "new" fresh New Zealand fruits to consumers. FreshPlaza was also invited to participate in the conference.

This conference has received great attention and support from the industry. Ms. Rebekah Mawson, Consul General of New Zealand in Guangzhou, Mr. Pete Frost, Commercial Consul of New Zealand Trade Development Agency in Guangzhou, Management Representatives of Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Group, Management Representatives of Guangzhou Jiangyonghui Market Service Management Co., Ltd. as well as representatives of several well-known fruit exporters in New Zealand, were present at the conference.

Among them, Ms. Rebekah Mawson, Consul General of New Zealand in Guangzhou, Mr. Zheng Nanshen, General Manager of Guangzhou Jiangnonghui Market Service Management Co., Ltd., and Mr. Chen Qicai, General Manager of Distribution Channel Southern Division of Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Group, delivered speeches respectively to express confidence and a vision for the promotion of New Zealand fruit in China. In addition, the New Zealand Trade Development Agency, representatives of New Zealand exporters in China, and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animals, specially sent a video of blessing.

Mr. Pete Frost pointed out that China is New Zealand's most important market. In 2021, New Zealand's fruit exports totaled 1.04 million tons, of which exports to China accounted for 14.9%, ranking first; the five-year compound annual growth rate of New Zealand's fruit exports to China reached 12.6%. Even under the challenging environment of the pandemic in recent years, the volume of fruit exports from New Zealand to China has still increased, showing the huge industry development potential of the Chinese market.

The conference brought together Bostock, Mr Apple, Zespri, Rockit, Freshmax, Golden Bay Fruit, T&G Global, Freshco, 8 well-known New Zealand fruit exporters, and jointly launched more than ten high-end brand fruits, most of which are unique to New Zealand, including New Zealand Zespri kiwifruit, New Zealand Envy apples, Dazzle apples, Rockit apples, Jazz apples, Queen apples, Cherish apples, Organic Fuji apples, Breeze apples, Sonya apples, and PiqaBoo.

At the conference, a New Zealand gift box specially customized for the Chinese market was also launched, containing more than ten kinds of fine fruits, which were jointly launched by the above-mentioned 8 well-known New Zealand fruit exporters.
