Due to vegetable prices spiking

Andaman MP demands to import vegetables from mainland

Due to the uncontrolled prices of vegetables in Andaman Market, which has gone beyond the budget of common islanders, the Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to direct Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) to procure vegetables from Mainland and transport the same to Andaman so that vegetables at affordable rates can be made available in the Andaman market.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament pointed out that the General Public of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have already suffered heavy losses during the lockdown period and many have exhausted all their savings during this pandemic period.
