Goa may embark on potato and apple cultivation

The ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), based in Goa, will start conducting trials in growing crops that are not usually cultivated in Goa. We are talking about apple, potato and cauliflower crops. The initiative has been taken by the new director, Dr Parveen Kumar, who was previously with the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute.

Goa currently grows strawberry on a small scale after several trial-and-error attempts in a small village in South Goa, where the temperature and conditions are feasible for strawberry cultivation.
