Exports of mangosteen from Thailand up 400% in the first six months

The Director of International Trade of Thailand revealed that with free trade agreements in place, 14 countries and regions have scrapped the tariffs for mangosteen imports from Thailand. These 14 countries and regions are China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Chile, Peru, and Hong Kong.

This means Thailand's mangosteen exports rank among the highest in the world. In 2018, Thailand exported a total of about 226 million US dollars of mangosteen, increased by 3.32%. In the first half of 2019, Thailand's exports of mangosteen totaled 325 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 220%, mainly exported to China and ASEAN markets.

Among them, the total value of mangosteen exported to the Chinese market reached approximately 229 million US dollars, or 71% of the total exports of this fruit, an increase of 408%. The total value exported to ASEAN markets was approximately 84.2 million US dollars, or 26% of the total exports of this fruit, a 46% increase over the same period.
