Chinese radish prices to remain stable for the near future

Chinese radishes currently sold on the market mainly come from Zhangjiakou and Chengde in Hebei, Ulanchabu in Inner Mongolia, and Jianping and surrounding areas on the Liaoning and Inner Mongolia border. Recent prices are relatively stable compared with previous years, although there was a surge in May.

This surge in prices was partly caused by a sudden drop in temperature in the south. The supplies in Beijing mainly come from Hubei, Sichuan, and Chongqing, where the crop got soaked in the flood which led to a shortage on the market. Later on, as the weather improved, prices returned to normal levels.

Judging from current sales and planting situations, prices are not expected to change much in the near future. In the same period of last year, areas with cooler climate in the north were exposed to high temperatures for quite a long time, which affected the growth of the Chines radish and led to high prices. Temperatures in growing areas have improved this year, leading to good growth and higher production and consequently lower prices.

Based on the current sales situation, prices are expected to remain stable for a while.
