The price of spring bamboo in the market of Hangzhou showed a slight upward trend in the last two days. The purchase price of spring bamboo this week increased by 5 yuan [0.74 USD] per 0.5 kg in comparison with the same period last year. The reason for this development is reduced production volume as a result of poor weather conditions. There was relatively little rainfall between mid-September and mid-November last year, which means that the bamboo shoots did not have enough water. The reduction in production volume also means that the wholesale price is higher than it was around this time last year.
