India sees value in Cítricos Valencianos PGI

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, November 20 and 21, Feria Valencia hosted the third edition of the Go Global Congress, an event aimed at Valencian SME's interested in expanding in the international market. The Cítricos Valencianos PGI has participated for the first time and aims to open the Indian market.

According to the managing director of the PGI, José Enrique Sanz, "we've had the opportunity to meet with four importers involved in the fruit sector, one from France, one from Germany and two from India."

"The French and German markets are two traditional markets for the Valencian citrus sector; in fact, they are already familiar with our Cítricos Valencianos PGI label and have shown a serious interest in using it," he said.

"The Indian market is also very interesting, with a good purchasing power and demanding in terms of quality, but with some requirements in the protocol that are very tough to meet. Valencian citrus exporters could have a chance to export to that market, because I feel that there is a high interest on the part of this importing country."

"The two Indian importers confirmed that both professionals and an important part of consumers recognize the tradition and the benefits of Valencian citrus; therefore, they see value in our seal."

With this action, the Cítricos Valencianos Protected Geographical Indication confirms its commitment to internationalization, after having held 23 meetings with importers from Asia, Europe, eastern countries and other third countries during its participation in Fruit Attraction 2018.
