The IV International Congress of Organic Banana in the Piura region aims at providing solutions and strategies to the challenges of the banana production chain that will benefit thousands of producers.
"Our first objective is to present the current state of the business, the outlook for next year, and the quality strategies to be a competitive chain, presenting our activities as associations and cooperatives," said the president of the Banana Technical Committee, Marcia Herrera Reto.
This Committee of the Piura region is composed of associations, cooperatives, centrals, exporters, importers, suppliers of inputs, certification, and the Regional Government of Piura, among others.
Herrera Reto also said that the Technical Committee was a public-private platform for dialogue, coordination, and implementation of actions to strengthen the banana production chain in the Piura region.
This chain represents more than 7,000 hectares, about 6,500 producers, and more than 12,000 families that benefit from it through direct and indirect employment.
In addition, Herrera Reto also stated that 24 exhibitors from 12 countries would be present in the IV International Congress of Bananas and that the opening event would be an internship on integrated crop management.
This event would address issues such as irrigation, fertilization and integrated pest management, the challenges of the organic banana markets for competitiveness, and technology innovations for crop management.
