Apples - New harvest already on the market

All signs point to a good quality apple harvest in 2015. The new harvest is already on the market. For the Styria region a smaller harvest is expected, in total an amount of roughly 180,000 metric tons.

Fruit, period: September 1 - September 30, 2015

All over Europe the apple production is estimated at 12 million metric tons. There is a wide variety per region due to the large differentiation in rainfall. Especially the harvest in Germany and Belgium suffered from the drought. After last years’ record harvest this years’ harvest is expected to be 4% lower.

The numbers of the stored apples are unavailable due to the overlap with the new harvest. The first data for Austria on 1 November will be available in about a month.
