Delhaize takes new distribution centre into use

The Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize took the distribution centre DC Fresh 3 in Zellik into use on January 16th. The construction of the new distribution centre was combined with an investment of 50 million Euro. This creates an extra surface of almost 12,000 m2 of cooled storage space for fresh products.

The new building in Zellik ties in with the existing storage depot DC Fresh 2. The construction started at the end of 2011, the operational start of the logistic activities took place in December 2013 and DC Fresh will be running at full capacity in March this year. With the addition of this new distribution centre Delhaize now has over 200,000 m2 of distribution and storage area to supply over 700 shops in Belgium and Luxembourg. There are over 2000 people employed in these distribution centres.
