Peru: EU treaty on ecological products

Peru and EU have signed a treaty of mutual cooperation concerning the export of organic and sustainable produce from the regions of Piura, Arequipa, Puno, Cusco and Madre de Dios. In the 4-year contract the EU agrees to bankroll the Peruvian policy to stimulate the sustainable cultivation of banana, mango, kiwi, chestnut and quinoa. The EU has designated the equivalent of 17 million USD for the project.

To achieve this goal, the ministry of economy will support projects put forward by other ministries and suggestions made by local governments.
