US (WA): Demand holding strong for apples

As the apple season progresses in the Pacific Northwest, shortages throughout the country have meant that demand has remained robust.

“Shortages in other regions has increased the demand for apples coming out of Washington,” said Pam Beamer, sales manager for Baker Produce in Washington. Prodigious volume this year has meant that the region has been able to keep pace with demand, but prices remain strong.

“Prices are good, depending on the variety, but they're generally higher than what they have been in the past,” added Beamer.
