Danny Deen, Denimpex:

Netherlands: “Less pomelos from China due to good domestic market”

Denimpex has been importing Chinese pomelos for years. They market them under their own label: Dinosours. “The season started out well,” says Danny Deen. “And the demand has been very good as well.” According to the importer, quality has also improved.

“The shipments from China,” says Deen, “will likely decrease in the coming weeks, due to a strong domestic market. In China, they can get better prices on local markets than they can here.”

“Last January the local prices were better than those in the international trade, resulting in inflated export prices. If that’s the case now, we’re in for an interesting season.”
