Sustained growth in 2012

Peru: Passion fruit juice exports increased 5%

Between January and August of 2012, passion fruit juice exports totaled USD 17.5 million at an average price with a growing tendency of USD 2.91/kilo, which would have meant a positive change of 5% in the monthly average, compared to 2011.

According to Customs statistics, only 15 countries were the destination for this fruit, Netherlands top the list with USD 10.8 million (62% of the total), followed by Brazil USD 3.3 million (19%) and USD 31, 2 million (7%).

Regarding crop export companies, Quicornac was the first in the ranking with USD 5.5 million (32% of the total), then Agroindustrias AIB with USD 4.2 million (24%) and Jose R Lindley Corporation with USD 2.6 million (15%)

Fact

• In 2011, passion fruit juice exports reached USD 24 million (FOB), considering that it was possible to send 10.801 MT, at an average price of USD 2.30 per kilogram.
