In cooperation with the Limburgse Tuinbouwveiling and tree nursery Nicolai D&G Fruit last week presented the red Comice, named Regal Red. This new variety will be cultivated and commercialised in exclusive club context. "The red Comice has been developed for some time, but only from this year is the new variety is being commercialised," a spokesman of D&G Fruit tells.
"The production will be 20 tons this season and this will be sold exclusively at Christmas in a Belgian supermarket. It is expected that planting and production will increase well during the coming years. As far as taste is concerned the Regal Red is freshly sweet and full of aroma. The most beautiful distinctive feature of the new variety is the deep red colour."
Trees are available at Tree Nursery Nicolai. The pack-out for the growers is 100%.
