Different products were presented during the exhibition such as tomatoes, bell peppers and herbs from Morocco; potatoes from Belgium; apples from France; kiwis, stonefruits and strawberries from Greece; bananas, pomegranates and mangoes from India; kiwis from Italy; citruses from Egypt and Turkey, and a lot more.
Exporting countries, such as India and Morocco, had an impressive presence at WOP Dubai. Importers from Dubai could not be missed, having a busy stand at all times, yet a lot of exhibitors were disappointed by the relative lack of retailers and the presence of more machines and packaging companies could have made it better.
Lastly, a majority of the exhibitors said that even though there were less visitors to WOP Dubai, the people who were there were very serious about doing business. Long discussions and negotiations were made on the spot and some exhibitors, were even able to close new deals.
With over 14 official country pavilions, including Australia, Belgium, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, India, Italy, Kenya, Morocco, Portugal, Turkey and Spain and a 15% growth in the number of exhibitors. The event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre aimed to welcome a total of over 7,000 attendees. It became a vehicle for business opportunities in the fruit & vegetable industry and its supply chain, dealing with all aspects of logistics and handling and is seeking to become the biggest stage for new products in the Gulf region.
