CAAT's first time at medFEL

Turin wholesale market to expand in France

The wholesale market of Turin - CAAT (Consortium Centro Agro-Food Torino) which counts 79 wholesalers, logistics companies and 130 local producers covering an area of 440,000 m², was exhibiting for the first time at medFEL 2024. Their objective is to expand into the French market and more. CAAT's general manager Gianluca Cornelio Meglio explains the reasons behind the company's participation at the Perpignan event.

"Giving our companies the opportunity to present their activities on the French market"

The presence of CAAT at medFEL represents a further step in the Turin-based wholesale market's plans to expand into the French market. "This is a real opportunity for CAAT, which already has almost 90 French customers. We wanted to give our companies the opportunity to present their activities on the French market, to support them and help them develop on this market," explains Gianluca Cornelio Meglio. It was also an opportunity to showcase "the know-how of our companies and the quality of our products. We are very satisfied with the two-day event, during which we were able to promote Italian fruit and vegetables."

Given the success of this first participation, CAAT is not ruling out repeating the experience next year. "We are thinking of confirming our participation for 2025. In a few months' time, we will be holding a meeting to get feedback from the companies that took part in medFEL in order to find out whether they succeeded in turning their participation into a business opportunity."

CAAT Link France and CAAT Link Swiss projects
This participation is part of the CAAT Link France project, launched last year, whose aim is to create links between operators and create new opportunities in France, a major outlet for Italian products. "This project is the fruit of collaboration between CAAT, the France-Italy Chamber of Commerce (based in Milan), APGO (Associazione Piemontese Grossisti Ortofrutticoli) and the Turin Chamber of Commerce," explains Gianluca Cornelio Meglio. But CAAT is also targeting other markets, as the general manager explains, referring to the CAAT Link Swiss project. "The French market could indeed be the gateway to similar experiences, including the Swiss market."
