Row 7 Seed Company and Sprouts Farmers Market have announced a partnership to introduce five vegetable varieties to Sprouts stores across California. The launch includes Sweet Garleek, Badger Flame beets, Upstate Abundance potatoes, Koginut squash, and Honeypatch squash, which will be available in select stores throughout the Bay Area, Sacramento Valley, Central Valley, and Fresno.

The collaboration brings together Row 7's vegetable breeding program with Sprouts' produce retail network, focusing on consumer access to alternative vegetable varieties. Row 7's co-founder, Dan Barber, noted: "Sprouts understands that flavor and nutrition go hand in hand—when vegetables taste this good, healthy eating becomes a pleasure, not a chore."
The five varieties were developed through Row 7's Trial Network, which includes chefs and growers testing new crops for flavor and performance. The Upstate Abundance potato, for example, was selected by potato breeder Walter de Jong, while the Koginut squash was developed by breeder Michael Mazourek.
Descriptions provided by Row 7 detail the new offerings: Sweet Garleek combines traits of leeks and garlic; Badger Flame beet emphasizes sweetness with reduced earthiness; Upstate Abundance is described as a versatile, small potato; Koginut squash is noted for its texture and nutty flavor; and Honeypatch squash is presented as a smaller version of butternut with concentrated sweetness.
