China explores durian exports from Vietnam’s Dak Lak

A delegation of Chinese enterprises visited Dak Lak province to survey durian production areas, packaging facilities, and discuss cooperation opportunities in the local durian sector.

During meetings, the Chinese companies expressed interest in raw material supply, traceability systems, and Dak Lak's capacity for durian processing and packaging. Both sides discussed possible cooperation to expand official export channels, diversify markets beyond China, and strengthen information exchange on consumption trends to support the development of a sustainable durian brand for Vietnam in China.

Le Anh Trung, Chairman of the Dak Lak Durian Association, said: "Market information is a key factor in ensuring sustainable exports. Without meetings and information exchanges, it will be difficult for businesses and farmers to know each other's needs and capacities. Through dialogues, both sides can better grasp production and consumption requirements, thereby improving the processes and meeting the market demands better."

Dak Lak currently has nearly 40,000 hectares of durian under cultivation, with this year's production estimated at 400,000 tons. The province has been approved by Chinese authorities for 269 planting area codes, covering nearly 7,400 hectares. In addition, 40 fresh fruit packing facilities and 11 frozen durian facilities in the province are licensed for export.
