PCA conference to address ToBRFV and AI in cropping

Protected Cropping Australia (PCA), the national industry body representing commercial growers using greenhouses, glasshouses, and other protected systems, will host its upcoming conference from 28–30 July 2025 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The event is regarded as a key forum for knowledge exchange and development in protected cropping across Australia.

The three-day conference will bring together growers, researchers, and industry stakeholders to discuss advancements in profitable and sustainable production. Topics include the integration of artificial intelligence in agriculture, strategies to manage tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV), and other critical challenges facing the sector.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from participating organisations, including Rijk Zwaan, which will showcase its crop developments such as ToBRFV-resistant tomatoes and Blue Leaf cucumbers, known for their increased chlorophyll levels and extended cropping periods. Capsicum varieties will also be on display for evaluation.© Rijk Zwaan

On Tuesday, 29 July, at 3 p.m., James Bertram of Rijk Zwaan will contribute to a panel discussion on integrated disease management related to ToBRFV, joined by local representative Steve Natsias.

The PCA Conference serves as an important occasion for the protected cropping industry to examine current practices, explore future opportunities, and address the evolving demands of controlled-environment agriculture in Australia.
