Australian almond exports for May reached unprecedented levels despite the global trade chaos caused by tariff uncertainties, according to the industry's latest sales update. Export sales were up 55% on the May 2024 figures and almost 6000 tonnes on the previous best figure for the month, according to the Almond Board of Australia May Position Report.

Season to date, sales of Australian almonds for the 2025-26 selling season (ie, March 2025 to February 2026) volumes are 14.45% ahead of last season after three months. Sales into India have started strongly, up 157% for May and 52% for the season.
China is up 18% on the record high levels of 2024. Turkiye continues to emerge as the third biggest customer for Australian almonds, up 80% on last year's breakout growth season. The sales volume growth is expected to ease in the back half of the season as the industry deals with a smaller crop than last year.
